Based in Paris and working across photography, sculpture, and painting, Marcus Schaefer approaches the image as a space of resistance in an era of visual excess. His photographs refuse easy clarity. They linger in ambiguity, inviting sensation, memory, and projection. Black plays a central role in his visual language – not as absence, but as density. Through it, Schaefer charts interior landscapes where imperfection and spontaneity become generative forces. The familiar becomes estranged, reality bends toward dream, and each image unfolds like a psychic map shaped by desire and subconscious fragments. For Schaefer, photography is less a document of the visible world than a way of constructing a personal reality, grounded in beauty and aesthetic tension rather than technical perfection. His images inhabit the in-between, where fiction and reality blur and viewers are invited to project their own narratives. We are delighted to share this body of work – images that do not instruct or explain, but dream, opening a portal into a singular visual universe that continues to unfold with every gaze. Reaching out to touch, to hold, to embrace; to wrap one’s arms around you. Softly, gently, tightly, intensely.  To drape, to fold, to coil, to grasp, to clench. To strangle, then unravel. Knot. Creases crisping of  tensions unresolved that cannot be ironed or steamed into softness  again.

La bourse finance la recherche, la production d’œuvre(s) et les honoraires d’artiste. Il concerne les pratiques de sculpture, dessin, peinture, photographie, installation, vidéo, numérique. Les artistes peuvent être, accompagné·e ou non par un diffuseur. Il n’y a pas de critères d’âge ni de nationalité. Il est ouvert aux collaborations artistiques et aux collectifs. Les candidat·es devront expliciter leur lien ou celui du projet avec le territoire Marseille Provence. Mécènes du Sud souhaite apporter un soutien indispensable à l’amorçage et à la réalisation du projet. Les membres de ce collectif, dirigeants d’entreprises ou mécènes, espèrent à travers leur mécénat élargir leur point de vue, faire un « pas de côté » et entrer en dialogue avec les artistes lauréat·es, notamment lors des restitutions. Le choix des projets est confié à un comité artistique indépendant, des personnalités actives dans le milieu de l’art dont les compétences touchent à la critique d’art, la conservation, l’histoire de l’art, la direction d’institution culturelle, le commissariat d’exposition et à la pratique elle-même. Un membre de l’association y assiste à titre d’observation. Les noms et fonctions des membres du comité sera communiqué prochainement. Get @reshare_app • @paradigme_marseille @mikou_lfr nous revient dans le Sud après 5 ans à parcourir le monde. Son regard s’est enrichi de couleurs de toutes les cultures qu’il a rencontrées ! FRAGMENTÉ Voir ne suffit pas. Les formes changent, se fragmentent, disparaissent. Les repères se brouillent. Il manque toujours quelque chose. Alors on prend le temps. On regarde, on doute, on imagine. Ce que l’on perçoit devient une interprétation. Dans cet espace, l’identité devient incertaine. Elle se construit, évolue, entre ce que l’on voit et ce que l’on projette.
